Mulholland Dr.

Mulholland Dr.
Yesterday I was watching the 100 hottest hotties on VH1 and one of the hotties was Naomi Watts. They showed bits of her lesbian scenes from Mulholland Dr. and my mom and Letty’s mom were shocked. (they were pretty spicy scenes) Letty’s mom was like “I don’t mind seeing man/woman scenes, but two women just gross me out” My mom agreed.
I didn’t feel offended. I thought it was funny. And I thought those scenes being showed were beautiful.
But I did feel a little sad – and this is why.
1-year ago I went to a spa with my mom. We were there for almost a month just chilling and hoping I’d lose massive amounts of weight. While there, I met Laura and Ada. They were good friends and were staying in the same room. My mom thought they were gay.
I became friends with them (well, I talked to them and during that month I didn’t talk to a lot of people). Every night we would watch a DVD together and just chill together. Eventually I kinda fell for Laura. (Ada was older and kinda deaf – lol – but she was really nice too).
One day I was in the steam room by myself and someone went in there. It was Laura. I was so happy I was in there with her. We were chatting about Ada and when they were gonna leave and all and then I finally got the guts to ask her “Are you two a couple?”
She was like “ooh.. noooo nooo. no way. We are just friends.”
I don’t remember how we changed the subject and who left the steam room first, but I sure haven’t forgotten how it felt to ask her that.
I didn’t take that as a “I am not a lesbian” but as a simple “I am not with Ada.”
So I kept liking her.
One night, it was just the two of us in the TV room and she told me to choose a DVD. We had watched most of them, and it was our last night there. I wanted us to watch a really cool movie. So I picked up a DVD called Cidade dos Sonhos (City of dreams), thought about watching it, but soon put it back in the box.
Big mistake.
I later found out that it was Mulholland Dr. I didn’t know the Brazilian title was so
I thought it was some stupid movie about Las Vegas…
To this day I greatly regret not watching that movie with Laura Bueno that night.
